A leading regional professional services organization is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to support its New Jersey office. This role will oversee core HR operations including recruiting, employee relations, staffing strategy, performance management, and compliance.
The Human Resources Manager partners closely with senior leadership and the Chief Human Resources Officer to ensure effective HR policies, employee engagement, and operational efficiency across the firm.
Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available.
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day HR functions while helping shape and improve firm-wide policies, procedures, and talent strategies. This role works closely with partners, attorneys, and administrative staff to support a high-performing professional services environment.
This position also oversees support staff operations and plays a key role in employee relations, staffing planning, and benefits administration.
• Support and manage firm-wide HR programs and initiatives
• Evaluate HR policies and procedures and recommend improvements
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and employment regulations
• Manage recruiting, hiring, and onboarding processes
• Partner with leadership to determine staffing needs and workforce planning
• Support retention and professional development initiatives
• Oversee employee relations matters and assist in resolving workplace conflicts
• Support disciplinary processes and performance evaluations
• Provide HR guidance to partners, attorneys, and staff
• Coordinate with payroll and benefits administration for firm benefit plans including 401(k) and profit-sharing programs
• Ensure proper handling of leave of absence requests and related compliance requirements
• Maintain and update job descriptions and role specifications
• Assist with integration and onboarding of new attorneys and staff
• Prepare HR reports and support leadership with workforce analytics
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
• 4+ years of progressively responsible HR experience
• Experience working within legal or professional services organizations
• Strong knowledge of HR policies, employment law, and compliance practices
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Prior law firm HR experience
• Professional HR certifications (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or PHR)
• Experience supporting professional services environments
