SCHEDULE: Days, 7 am-3:30 pm with 24 hour accountability

The Nurse Manager at the Ambulatory Surgery Center is responsible for making sure the unit runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently each day. They handle daily staffing and scheduling, assign nurses and support staff to the right areas, and make sure everyone knows their responsibilities for the day. Their main focus is ensuring patients are cared for safely and the flow of the surgical center stays organized. They also support and develop the nursing team by helping train new staff, acting as a preceptor when needed, and guiding less experienced nurses. This nurse is responsible for making sure all clinical standards and safety procedures are being followed at all times. They work closely with, and reporting to the Executive Director/Administrator to keep operations running properly and may also step in as a charge nurse or delegate charge responsibilities when needed. Overall, this role is a hands-on leadership position focused on managing staff, ensuring patient safety, and keeping the surgery center running efficiently every day.
DUTIES: Oversee daily operations of the Ambulatory Surgery Center to ensure safe, efficient patient flow and smooth unit functioning Manage daily staffing assignments and scheduling for nursing and support staff across the surgical unit Assign staff to appropriate roles and areas based on patient volume and clinical needs Ensure all patients receive safe, high-quality care throughout the peri-operative and recovery process Maintain compliance with all clinical standards, policies, and patient safety protocols Monitor and enforce infection control, surgical safety checklists, and regulatory requirements Provide leadership, coaching, and support to nursing staff, including onboarding and preceptorship of new hires Act as a clinical resource and mentor for less experienced nurses and support staff Collaborate closely with the Executive Director/Administrator on daily operations and performance of the center Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to ongoing performance improvement processes Respond effectively to high-stress clinical situations in the OR and peri-operative environment Promote teamwork, communication, and accountability across the surgical team
QUALIFICATION: RN, BSN preferred, 3-5 years experience required supervising/ managing RNs in an Operating room setting, Ambulatory surgery center preferred. Excellent decision-making skills. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to supervise others. Ability to perform effectively in a variety of stressful situations in the OR/peri-operative setting. Demonstrates basic competencies related to the Center’s policies and procedures. Demonstrates understanding of a Quality Improvement process. * National Certification in area of practice preferred. * N.Y.S. Nursing License, Current N.Y.S. Registration, BLS, ACLS
