About the Job: The primary purpose of this position is to complete repair work for building control systems, air handling units, heating and cooling controls, water treatment systems, laboratory controls, and other campus systems. This position will take direction from the lead worker for the BSAC Shop, and will assist with dispatch calls, routine work, and preventive maintenance.
Location and Work environment: This is an in-person position that will work full time on campus. This position is a combination of office work and work in electrical or mechanical spaces. Applicants must have the ability to climb ladders, work in hot environments, and enter crawl spaces.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday with a normal shift time of 7am-3:30pm.
Primary Responsibilities: Building Maintenance and Repair Work-50%
- - The primary responsibility for the Mechanic 2 BSAC is to perform maintenance and repair work for building control systems and related equipment.
- - Respond to trouble calls, usually at the direction of the Lead or Supervisor.
- - Perform repairs of building control systems, heating and cooling systems, and water treatment systems.
- - Repair and replace components of air handlers and dampers.
- - Inspect and replace building controls components. Work with Planner to order parts and maintain proper inventory.
- - Repair and replace all types of heating and cooling system components.
- - Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic devices.
- - Monitor, maintain, and repair laboratory controls and water treatment systems.
Building Controls Systems-40%
- - Monitor campus building controls alarms and respond as directed.
- - Perform programming and scheduling activities for computer control systems.
- - Use computer control systems to troubleshoot and respond to campus issues.
Preventive Maintenance-10%
- - Perform preventive maintenance as assigned by the Lead, Planner, or Supervisor.
- - Assist other maintenance trades with preventive work.

Qualifications Required Qualifications: - Technical education/training in Mechanical maintenance totaling two years.
- Three years of applicable work experience. Additional work experience may substitute for education.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with Johnson Controls or Siemens building control systems.
- Background in pneumatic controls.
