Position Summary

The Associate Director of Advancement Systems & Analytics supports the operational, data management, and reporting needs of the Advancement division of School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). This role works closely with colleagues across SAIC Advancement and other departments to satisfy information needs and deliver high-quality analysis, reports, and insights that facilitate data-driven decision making.

The Associate Director will be joining the team at an exciting time for SAIC and the Department of Advancement, playing a key role in the division’s CRM transition from Raiser’s Edge to ascend (Salesforce). This role works in close partnership with Advancement systems administration, including Raiser’s Edge, Power BI, Reporting Services, and related platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain data structures within the CRM (currently Raiser’s Edge) and related systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Support data integrity through audits, validations, and hygiene projects; assist users with data imports and identify recurring issues for resolution.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports that track fundraising progress and other Advancement metrics using tools such as Power BI, Reporting Services, and/or Tableau.
  • Conduct needs assessments for reporting requests; lead and participate in regular collaboration sessions with the Advancement team.
  • Create, update, and distribute ad hoc and scheduled reports to Advancement and SAIC leadership.
  • Conduct data analysis for regular pipeline reviews and participate in ad hoc projects as requested.
  • Develop and deliver training materials for Advancement staff and campus partners on data processes, reporting tools, and system use.
  • Support ongoing data cleanup, entry, and other operational and development needs as assigned.
  • Collaborate with partners across the institution—including Central Operations and the Museum—on data integrity, analytics best practices, and CRM implementation.
  • Contribute towards identification of business needs and the creation of innovative solutions.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the goals of Advancement Operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field—or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience working with CRM systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce).
  • Demonstrated experience using data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong understanding of T-SQL, relational database systems, and data management principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-pace environment.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Experience working in a service-oriented, collaborative environment.
